A long long time ago in a distant galaxy—part of the Rainbow Multiverse—there was a queer family made up of six non-binary Queens called ‘House Of Pride’…

HOP members are: Gartina J., Stephen LaReign Hues, Jackie Jet, Frigid, Kiet Ha & Marta Marta.

Our Story

From 1993-99, House of Pride rocked the stages of Montreal and beyond, dazzling audiences with their unique take on gender and cultural diversity, while delivering a hopeful message of love, unity and peace.

These six dynamic performers merged drag with performance art, bringing awareness and resources to the LGBTQ2+ community through wild club performances, elaborate multidisciplinary theater productions, and fundraising appearances at the World Ball, Black & Blue, and other circuit parties in Montreal, Toronto, New York and beyond. They became known for their entertaining performances where they made use of their platform to champion the ongoing dialogue around gender politics, racial equality, LGBTQ2+ rights, oppression and abuse, consciousness for the environment, and a new level of respect for mother earth: the ultimate goddess.

The group stopped working together in 1999, when each member moved on to pursue their own career paths. In 2016, when Gartina J. passed away suddenly, House Of Pride came back together to grieve and reminisce.

More recently, they have been digging through their archives and getting inspired again. Stay tuned for House of Pride past, present, and future—coming your way soon!
